To date, more than 700 NHS Consultants have received their own NOSC Membership Card and Personal Reference Number and are reaping the benefits of NOSC membership for themselves and their patients.

Membership is free and allows them privileged access to our Practitioner Download Area, and to fast track their patients to the Centre's services. If you would like your own personal NOSC Card and Reference Number, please contact the Centre directly (contact the NOSC).

Upon registration with the Centre, you will receive your personal card by return of post.

A Brief History of the Intragatsric Balloon

The Intragastric Balloon has now become a fully established highly successful anti-obesity treatment for your patients. It used to be thought of as a temporary measure. Not any more. Many patients drop their BMI by up to 10 points with the NOSC Balloon Programme and change their relationship with food forever.

Our Specialist Services For Medical and Other Obesity Practitioners

At the National Obesity Surgery Centre, we offer a range of treatment possibilities to practitioners working within the field of obesity, or to those who have patients whom they are currently unable to treat optimally because of their weight. For example:-

• Orthopaedic Surgeons, Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Diabetologists and even Bariatric Surgeons are just some of the specialists who regularly refer both their private and NHS patients to us. We have considerable experience in helping patients achieve the necessary weight loss prior to, for example, large joint replacement; heart bypass or more major anti-obesity surgery. Poor diabetic control is another common reason for referral to the Centre.

• In addition, we are happy to place and remove gastric balloons for any other recognised obesity practitioner (medical or non-medical) who might wish to add this valuable treatment option to their own armamentarium.

• For those practitioners who wish to undertake much or even all of the interim follow-up and counselling, this means that the costs involved can also be dramatically reduced.

• Similarly, NHS Acute Trusts or Primary Care Trusts are also able to take advantage of considerable financial benefits should they wish to procure our services in larger numbers. Indeed, we have recently appointed an NHS Liaison Manager to make this process even easier.

• NHS Consultants and General Practitioners who might wish to introduce a Gastric Balloon programme within their own Acute Trust or PCT are very welcome to contact us. We would be more than happy to work with them in both negotiating with their Trust / PCT management and then in delivering such a service within their area.

We already have a formal contractual agreement with Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust, which is working very well indeed.

We are more than happy to discuss any single practitioner's or organisations needs on an individual bespoke basis.
